BUGS HAPPEN

You can water and care to the absolute upmost and bugs will find all those nutritious veggies and take them for themselves. So rude. They don’t even ask. They just move right in.

The challenge is balance. Allowing our good guys - i.e. ladybugs, worms, butterflies, bees - to do the good they do, while nuking the ones that ravage - i.e. aphids, cabbage loopers, tomato hornworms, borers. We’ve been known to let the ladybugs feast on the aphids without spraying anything. Despite their outward appearance, ladybugs are pretty tough. But some of the other bad dudes can wipe out things fairly quickly. Seems almost like there’s a “bad bug” made specifically for every vegetable.

I hate saying “bad bug”. Maybe they’re good bugs but they just keep making bad choices?

As with the plant food, if we feel we need to fight, we fight with organic pesticides. We primarily use Neem Oil and Insecticidal Soap. Every trick in our bug fighting arsenal hurt the bad dudes, without disturbing our good guys or hurting humans, pets, or environment.

Because, we figure, if we are going through all the trouble to grow, we are going to do it as responsibly as humanly possible.
