POTATOES :: 2018 STATS

🙌🏻 11 pounds 7 ounces 🙌🏻 of potato left our hands and were given to food pantries to distribute to the vulnerable and in need.

The breakdown?
5 lbs. 4.1 oz. Blue Potato
1 lb. 14.9 oz. Yukon Potato
4 lbs. 4 oz. Sweet Potato

No. We didn’t count the potatoes. Mostly because the general method is by weight, since size varies greatly from spud to spud.

Why do we grow potatoes?
They are full of soluble fiber, which helps you feel fuller longer. May help reduce blood cholesterol. Good source of vitamin B6, iron, potassium, and an excellent source of vitamin C.

Why do we grow sweet potatoes?
They are an excellent source of vitamin A (in the form of beta-carotene). They are also a very good source of vitamin C, manganese, copper, pantothenic acid and vitamin B6. Additionally, they are a good source of potassium (more than a banana!), dietary fiber, niacin, vitamin B1, vitamin B2 and phosphorus. Whew. That was a mouthful.

Started out with a handful of spuds, and ended the year with an armful.
